Soldiering On

June 29, 2007

The end is in sight.

I’m about to start the last section on the Puff Sleeve cardigan…which is actually a rather large lace pattern, so it’s really not that close to being done but *damnit it’s close enough for me to call it a milestone.* I think this might be the first thing I’ve made that will actually look cute on me. The green works really well with all the clothes I own, so I’m pretty happy with my yarn choice.

The thing is…I expected a lot better from a company like Rowan. I’m using Rowan Pure Wool DK…it’s not cheap stuff, but I keep finding parts of the yarn that have a bit of extra fluff, knots, and broken plys. One ball (the first one I used) was a damned mess, with parts being overspun and two (two!) knots in it. If I wanted to deal with this shit I’d’ve bought the bargin basement stuff at the local Michael’s.

Speaking of weirdly spun yarns, my love-hate relationship with Kuyeron is still in full swing. Sometimes it’s like a bulky weight and then dwindles to sock yarn. It’s a bit distracting…and makes me worry about its strength as a blanket. Well…people have made it before and it hasn’t gotten a bad rep, so I guess I’ll stop worrying
